Wakatipu Rowing Club is excited to welcome entrants for the Corporate Rowing Challenge 2019! Experience the challenge, the teamwork, and the reward. Every year we take the opportunity to share our amazing sport with our local community. Local businesses and groups are invited to enter mixed teams of 5. We will coach you all you need to know, with two opportunities to race other teams including an indoor relay and a final regatta on Lake Hayes. The event will be loads of fun, providing the Wakatipu community with a chance to have a go and be challenged by this amazing sport, meeting and competing against other locals.
WHEN? All crews will be briefed with an initial meeting on Saturday September 2nd (time TBC) ‣ Training will run over eight weeks between September 4th and October 27th. ‣ Training will comprise two elements: ‣ Indoor rowing (three sessions) ‣ On-Water sweep rowing (eight sessions) ‣ Training sessions are of a set duration (45-75 min) and are held at times to suit crews and coaches (we are limited by light availability and lake conditions for water sessions) ‣ Racing will comprise of two events ‣ Indoor event (Date TBC) ‣ On-Water event (Saturday October 28th, Labor Weekend)
WHO? ‣ Five workmates, or friends. At least four of the crew must attend for a training session to go ahead ‣ Each crew must have at least two females racing ‣ Anyone who is 17 or over and is game can take part, however, only one crew member can have rowing experience. There are no size restrictions to participation, provided the athlete is able to fit in a standard rowing shell and capable of intermittent strenuous efforts. ‣ Crews will be provided with all the necessary equipment, as well as a coach and coxswain (where crews would like to provide their own coach this can be discussed)
RACING! Indoor ‣ The indoor event will be a relay over a set distance which all crew members will compete equally. It will run to a heat-final format. On-Water ‣ The final on-water regatta will be raced in coxed fours (cox provided). Where crews have a 5th crew member available Wakatipu Rowing Club will provide other options to ensure all participating athletes have an opportunity to race
HOW TO ENTER? ‣ Entry is $850 (GST incl) and entries close September 1st. Payment is required before entry is confirmed.
